The Department of Justice and the Attorney General (DJAG) traditionally communicated with school leavers via printed brochures to provide essential information for navigating post-school life. However, this method had shown limited engagement and was costly to maintain. In response, DJAG collaborated with Evolut to transform their approach by creating an interactive online platform tailored for young adults transitioning from school to university or the workforce.

Objective

The primary objective was to shift from traditional printed booklets to a dynamic, interactive website that resonates with young adult school leavers and university students. The new platform aimed to present necessary information in a fun, engaging manner that not only attracts the target audience but also encourages active participation and learning.

Approach

Evolut’s approach was to conceptualize and develop a quasi-virtual world where students could explore and interact with content in a meaningful way. This digital transformation involved creating an animated, isometric cityscape that students could navigate, discovering educational content organically as they engaged with the environment.

They have a great balance of being both commercial and creative. They’ve got the technical expertise but they really go beyond with the mix of both design and commercial understanding so we can really build something that’ll achieve the desired outcome of the business. They worked with us through that. Additionally, we're impressed with their strategy. They didn’t intend to build a site that’d be demolished in a couple of years’ time. Their team is being scalable so they’ll reuse the work that they’ve done previously to build. They don’t have to restart. This shows that they’re being very careful with our money as well. Additionally, we’ve had a great flow in sales. We’ve had $7 million worth of preorders since we went live. This is far exceeding our expectations and targets. The fact that it flowed and worked well without any errors is a win.

The challenge was twofold: DJAG needed to enhance student engagement with their educational content and reduce the recurring costs associated with annual updates of printed materials.

The solution was “Get Out There,” a vibrant, animated isometric cityscape that transformed static information into an exploratory virtual world. This approach made learning about life after school both fun and engaging, significantly increasing the appeal of the content and reducing production costs associated with traditional print methods.

Ensuring the educational content was accessible and easy to digest was paramount. It was essential that the information not only be comprehensive but also presented in a manner that captivates the young audience.

To address this, content was broken down into bite-sized pieces accompanied by engaging isometric imagery, all designed or curated by Evolut. This format proved to be more digestible for students, facilitating easier comprehension and longer engagement times with the material.

While the virtual platform was central to the strategy, supporting offline marketing communications were still necessary to drive traffic to the site.

Evolut assisted DJAG in designing a series of cost-effective flyers and posters, which were distributed through schools. This strategy not only maintained a physical presence in educational environments but also contributed to an impressive average active user base of 27,000, demonstrating the effective synergy between online and offline marketing efforts.
